Job Description:
The Systems Engineer will work with internal clients to gather requirements, provide guidance, design and support of Windows Active Directory, storage and server platforms. This position requires a highly technical person that has a deep understanding of Microsoft and VMware technologies, good operational experience, and the ability to isolate, analyze and resolve technical issues.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Ensure the stable operation of our Windows server infrastructure including file and print services, GPOs, Terminal Services, Certificate Authorities, and licensing. The candidate must have extensive Active Directory support experience and a strong general Microsoft application support background
- Upgrade and install new hardware and software and components as needed. Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with IT policies and procedures
- Maintain our highly virtualized environment. Manage VMware ESX and VMware View. Experience with virtualization technologies such as HA, DRS, VMotion, resource pools, snapshots, SRM and all VMware best practices is preferred
- Perform application and server tuning, backup, Disaster Recovery and support across production and pre-production environments in multiple physical locations
- Provision server storage following industry best practices and monitor storage performance
- Act as level IV support to infrastructure related issues
- Work with automated monitoring solutions such as Solarwinds Orion to ensure maximum system uptime, performance and ensure our systems are right-sized for current and future needs
- Develop and maintain documentation including server build docs, configuration standards and infrastructure architecture
- Provide regular status reports on tasks accomplished, current issues and progress toward goals. Maintain up-to-date documentation of system design, operation and procedure manuals
- Leverage the use of workflow ticketing systems
- Work closely with other members of Information Technology team to assist with project implementations and other tasks as requested
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage or emergency response as needed
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
Required
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with 5+ years in a Systems Engineer role.
- Extensive enterprise level Active Directory (GPO, DNS, Certificates, DHCP) and group policy administration experience
- Hands-on experience in in updating, maintaining, and building Windows Servers, specifically 2008-2012
- Azure/AWS/Google Cloud and/or cloud migration experience
- 3-5 years of engineer/admin experience in VMware ESX vSphere hypervisor. Must be well versed in HA, DRS, VMotion, resource pools, snapshots, SRM and all VMware best practices
- Communicates both verbally and non-verbally and strong technical skills
- Hands on experience with Cisco UCS servers and enterprise storage
Preferred:
- BS or BA degree in computer science, or equivalent experience.
- Mortgage and/or Financial Services industry experience is highly preferred
- Any recognized IT certifications considered a plus (MCP, MCSE, etc.)
- Office 365 experience
- Experience with KACE software deployment and imaging
- Experience with Pure Storage arrays
